If Only I Could Do It and Not Just Think It

Some things are going to happen whether we struggle and fight against them or help them along.

So, isn't it easier to just enjoy the ride?

There are so many "life is like a river" analogies going through my head right now that it isn't even funny. Ok.. maybe a little ;)

Metaphors and analogies are my life.

"It's just a ride, it's just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you round and round
Sometimes you're up
sometimes you're down
It's just a ride, it's just a ride
don't be scared
don't hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but don't forget it's just a ride

Slowly, oh so very slowly accept that there's no getting off
So live it, just gotta go with it
coz this ride's, never gonna stop
"

Just A Ride by Jem

Life is metaphor and analogy for that which is beyond.

(making short pithy deep statements is fun!)

"In order to learn life's lessons, one must surmount the fear every day." Just one more pithy statement...

My grandfather was the king of pithy statements. He taught me much about life. Here's to you gramps!

"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy"

When about to throw something to you.. rather than saying can you catch it he says "can your cat shit?"

"Pull hard and she'll come easy" in reference to any sort of work related task requiring oomph.

One day when I'm an old feller like my grandpa I hope I can pass on the wisdom and keep the legacy going..... one day.

"Easier" – yes. Better? – I don't know. Not a bad idea to seek out the occasional opportunity to be bold and "clap boldly in a room full of nothing" – just to see what happens. Don't forget that someday you'll be dead – or worse.

Also, if you haven't already, check out "The Tao of Pooh" by Benjamin Hoff

Cocoa: Those opportunities just frighten me so much sometimes I try everything I can to stop myself from boldly clapping.

But, yes. Only living once and all that. *sigh*

And I have read that one, maybe a re-read is in need : )
