Well this isn't a gift I wanted exactly, but I remember always wanting to play on a soccer team after school, and my mum wouldn't let me because she thought soccer was for boys. I totally suck at soccer now and it still bugs me!! To my intense irritation, my mum got over her "boy sports" hangup by the time my sister was the same age, and she got to play soccer.
The Mop Top Hair Shop, and all it's Play-Doh goodness was what I coveted! As well as the Easy Bake oven. I don't know anyone who didn't want that Easy Bake...
I don't honestly remember most of my childhood - I have a horrible memory in general for life stuff - but I can't think of anything I wanted as a kid and didn't receive. Which I think says a lot about how hard my parents tried to make us happy despite being dirt poor. :)
By the way does anyone have any of those yummy undercooked Easy Bake goodies?? I'll bring tea.
Leah, I'm totally laughing over here. But, er, sorry. Didn't mean to laugh at your non-bike...ness. (tells self to sober up)
Bunny, what is the DEAL with toys that are only for boys? I got gypped out of the coolest stuff too. My Dad went to Japan and brought back transformer type things before they even existed and I got a doll. Dolls can't shoot things. *sigh*
Laura, awww man! Did you have to go sit jealously through your sisters games too?
Jenn, I remember that thing! Is that where it had that one thing where the hair came squirting out of the holes in the head when you twisted the crank?
Likalia, but...what do you mean undercooked? Doesn't the light bulb crisp em up nice and toasty? Heh.
Loved my easy bake oven... LOVED it. I can't remember anything else I didn't get except the pony. It always comes back to that damn pony. I still ask my mom for one every year. Really.
Slip and Slide until I was able to understand that people were actually getting seriously injured because of it. I always wondered why my parents wouldn't buy it.
Love my easy bake oven too - especially if the cake was just a bit undercooked....
When I was a kid I wanted a "Micronaut Battle Cruiser". I never got one.
Geek fact - the company that made Micronauts passed over the chance to make figures for a space movie - nobody had made movie figures before... it was Star Wars.

Lucky easy baker!
As for the slip and slide, I never wanted one because we just used trash bags in the back yard. Wooooo hooo!

Oh Micronauts.... how you must be feeling now.
And Jonathan, I'm glad to hear there was something you never got too. I was starting to think it was just us girls who missed out on cool stuff!
