Always Awkward

What I need to know from you is this:

When you're going past someone in an aisle, say on a plane or in a movie theatre or something, or just passing them in close quarters, do you turn bum towards them or bum away from them?

Because I'm never sure which is less awkward.

Depends how hot they are :D

I never really gave it any thought.. but I'm fairly sure I turn bum-away.

Possibly it's different for girls, tho ;)

LOL - what a perfect thing to read first thing in the morning, too funny. :)

I would say I agree with Dominic, though at times it does depend how skeezy the people in the chair on the aisle are compared to the person you are passing. You don't want to turn your bum towards someone who looks like they might really enjoy that. Ew.

Now that I've started my day with a laugh it is time for coffee. Thanks, have a good day! :)

Dominic, maybe it is different for girls, because we're either bum towards or boobs towards! ;)

Likalia, glad you got a morning laugh to go with your coffee! And I think I'd go bum towards with the skeezy person so I couldn't see their enjoyment! heh

What a great question! This is one of those daily life dilemmas that requires as much brain power as figuring out which way to swipe your debit card at the grocery store. It requires split second analysis of the other conditions around you. Who is on the other side of the aisle? Is there an empty seat you can squeeze yourself over onto? A flight attendant with a cart you can hide behind? Can you bend half of your body away? Or squeeze your torso down a bit narrower? Complex. Very complex!

OMG totally!

I think usually bum towards them. I mean, unless I get a look at the prospect and it happens to be a good looking fella, then maybe i'll turn my bum away so we can maybe catch a glimpse at eachothers smiles?

See.. in guy vernacular it's called crotch towards or away. Cause really.. that's the "bathing suit" area that we have to deal with. And in that case it's most often crotch away when doing the aisle scoot. Most often.. ;) LOL

Oh godz I nearly spit out my wine when I read this! ROFL
I always turn my bum away because that's what I would want the other person to do. (You just never know when a fart might slip out and whatnot. lol)

As Brad Pitt said to Edward Norton in Fight Club... "as I pass, do I give you the ass or the crotch?"

Age old problem for us fellas :-$
