I have a conception of what you are talking about... although i have NO idea anything about soccer to be frank...
I did hear an interesting thing though on a podcast... these guys are economists and they study just... weird crap no one else would... and they were saying that statistically, a penalty shot is best kicked straight down the middle of the goal, as opposed to the left or the right. The down the middle kick though is almost never done because if it IS stopped, the kicker looks much worse to fans than if he is stopped kicking it to the right or the left. But statistically, the dead center is the place where the goal keeper is least likely to be.
is this interesting? or am i super nerd? also, i'm cheering for mexico!
Cheering for England but sadly don't think they'll win it; that is likely to be Brazil (although the Argies have looked quite impressive in their first 2 matches).
On a purely selfish note, I generally hope that we (England) get kicked out early because it minimizes the amount of fuss people here make over the whole damn event, and leads to less of a big deal over "how close we were to winning"
No idea who's going to win, altho I *am* sure it won't be the USA ;)
On the plus side, traffic's generally quite light when everybody's home watching the match..
I am cheering for La Furia Roja (Spanish team) and have been watching all their matches. However, it is highly likely they won't win. If they get eliminated, my bets are on Brazil, Portugal, or Argentina. :)

Well, I think it's interesting, but that doesn't mean you're not a super nerd. Nor does it mean you are. . .

I'm torn between Brazil and Argentina too. . .
I'm not watching it.

What lap are they on?
JK- Can't say I am into Soccer- I've never really understood it. I am currently in the waning phase of being a NASCAR fan, but that too will pass....
Light traffic makes for happy non-football watchers eh Dominic? :)
They're on the...er... final lap of the um big race with the uh checkered flag! How'd I do?
LOL-- Good and thanks- I needed a smile today!

Yay Kas, I'm glad I could supply you with at least one smile today!
All good bets Laurene! Woo hooo! (The Brazil Portugal match should be gooooood)
Cheering for Germany, have to be loyal to my peeps. England/France are my games I'll watch if they're playing and I'm free.
Good, solid picks ;)
