Why is it that sleeping in in the morning or falling asleep during a nap feel so different from falling asleep at night?

Probably because of human physiology and anthropology.

We're most active during the day as a species because we have diurnal tools. We're not built like cats or owls, who have extraordinary night vision and keen senses. Conversely, thus, we're least active during the night.

Our bodies are least comfortable in darkness and so we take this opportunity to rest. These daytime-play and nighttime-sleep relationships has been pounded over the thousand+ years of human evolution. It is, after all, easier to hunt that saber-toothed tiger when you can actually see it!

To answer you question, sleeping during the day is rebelling against your body's craving for activity.

Yeah.
