I have a "the devil's own social media" account where I mainly have friends (and "friends") who I know (or "know") from their involvement in or interest in or attendance at Burning Man. If it matters, most of them are American. I have other people I am "friends" with too of course, but again, that account skews heavily towards America. So what I see on this social media site is.... different?
Sigh.
And so we know that everybody handles everything differently and I try to be mindful of that and not tell people they're "doing it wrong" even if they're doing the exact opposite thing that I would do for myself. Because, well free will.... or something. So I keep a WHOLE lot of thoughts and comments to myself... and today I'm going to let myself randomly and anonymously vent them out.
In no particular order and to no one in particular (and none of you even if you're doing these things, I promise!) and knowing I don't know anyone's state of mind or reasons for personal choices....
- WHY are you travelling? Like to another country? WHY? For FUN? REALLY? Is this seriously essential? Like I know it's been a long go of it, I know this but you're going on an airplane by choice? TO ANOTHER COUNTRY? POSSIBLY BRINGING YOUR COVID WITH YOU? STOP IT! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!!
- YOU WENT TO THAT CONCERT/SHOW? DO YOU SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AROUND YOU????? You know they're not all vaccinated right? And even if they are all vaccinated someone, you have to know someone is sick and spreading Covid right now. DID YOU WEAR A MASK????? OMG.
- Did you really just say Covid is over? Are you kidding me?
- You know that your politician is just as shitty and self-serving as theirs right?
- You think that person is a hero? ARE YOU ON [DRUG]?
- I don't think you should be doing that. You talk a lot about how anxious and worried you are about contracting Covid and you did .... that? Really???
- Why do you try arguing with that politician and their base? Do you think people arguing online actually helps? Has it ever? Do you have evidence? Does it not stress you out? No, seriously, doesn't it stress you out?
- DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW BLEEPED YOUR COUNTRY IS?????
- Why are you letting your politicians make these really stupid decisions?
- Are you giving in to peer pressure or are you just tired and wishing this was all over?
- Are you curating your life and actually a ball of stress and fear and just not being honest about that online??
- Pointing fingers like that isn't helping.
- You're being just as divisive as they are.
- They will never see your point of view.
- I don't think it's fixable, sorry.
- Be really really careful or the next election is going to go really badly for you.
- Get over your "rightness"
Sigh...
Sorry just... sometimes things get to me a whole lot more than others.

YES! YES! All of this. I try to curate my social media to at least have some Canadian content but you just can’t get away from the shitshow down south.
I try to have some non-US content too, but they really are quite.... prevalent!
All of this... OMG I get so frustrated with people.
Yeah... as a whole we are loud and opinionated. I'm sorry you have a front row seat but TRY LIVING IN THIS PLACE! It's not all bad, of course. We have wonderful people and wonderful places. But those aren't the loud voices. And particularly the comment you made about letting our politicians make stupid decisions... Um... I only get one vote. And it was very much wasted in the last election. And the one before. Honestly it has been for like 20 years...

I know Kandijay... ANY time I've travelled into the States and meet folks along the way they're lovely and kind and wonderful. And elections are.... well they are what they are (big sigh). Hugs.
I make use of the "Snooze" options quite frequently to keep my feed someone readable.
