A Long Weekend

I have had Fridays off for a while (and would like to continue doing so to be honest) and so while yesterday was a holiday that technically shouldn't have been any different for me (since I wasn't working anyway) it sure felt different.

One of the things I noticed yesterday morning and am noticing again today is the quiet.  I have two large construction jobs within a few blocks of my place and when I took my recycling out yesterday morning it was oh so quiet, and it is just as quiet this morning.  It's so nice.  Sometimes the absence of a noise is a real treat for me, even if the noise usually blends in with the background.  The quiet this morning is wonderful.

One of my neighbours had a party (?) yesterday and it got loud.  It got loud and rambunctious and I wish I knew why but there were many "thumps" and cheers and it shook my place every time.  I'm happy to say they went out just after nine and if they came back at night it didn't wake me so I'm happy with that too.

We had a hot spell last weekend.  I didn't love it but I got through it.  I'm cool right now and exceptionally happy about that although I imagine it will get warm today (it did yesterday, later than usual though).

I didn't participate in any of the long weekend things, nor did I feel up to "celebrating", just like I don't feel like America has much to celebrate on Monday, but hey, that's just me and everyone's entitled to their own take I guess.

So yeah.  A long weekend.  With quiet (and cool) mornings and I'm trying very hard to soak in the relaxation.
