Oh Lord.... Save Me From This Reality

I REALLY do not want to have the conversation I'm about to have (probably... because I *could* still back out)

The last book I got from the library had dried snot in it.  

I want to throw up just thinking about it to be honest.

I don't know what else it could have been but if you have ANY ideas, please let me know, I'd like my "libraries are good places" and "people are generally good" sanity back!

The first... uh... time I ran into it I almost gave up on the book, honestly, and I almost felt physically ill.

But I thought maybe it was sort of an... accident?  But then, a few pages later, there was... another.  This time "carefully placed" right in the middle of an o.

So yeah... whatever this person was leaving (GAG) they weren't doing it by accident.

But surely this wouldn't keep going?

Dear readers... it did.

So now I'm taking the book back to the library and I feel like I should let them know that someone before me made this really fucking nasty choice (especially in the age of a three year long pandemic FFS).

I'm so grossed out by it that I don't want to talk about it but... well, if there's a chance to stop them doing it again I'd like to let the library know I guess?  (Not that I have any idea what they might do... or if they'd even do anything but .....)

 

Updated to add:  The librarian was terribly apologetic (which I felt bad about because I highly doubt she did it, so apologizing for someone else's grossness is a bummer) and said they'd have to throw the book out, which is great, but also horrifies me that I kept reading it!!!!! (I also had hoped they would track the last person and... I don't know, fine them?  Maybe they will?)  OMG!  She asked if I wanted a fresh copy and I was like no... but then I was like OMG I KEPT READING!  But honestly, I did think about getting rid of it at the first "marked" page... but then I was certain it was a one off.  And then a two off.... sigh.  Lesson I suppose learned.  (That I hope I never have to repeat!)

I guess there's always a first time for something... and hopefully a last time for this.  Gah, gah, gah, gah.
