We had a lightning storm this weekend. Well one and a half really (a big one Saturday and a blink and you'll miss it one Sunday... like twenty minutes maybe?)
We don't get them much here and as they were accompanied by rain I was hopeful no new forest fires would start, so I was pretty excited waiting for it to come and then watching it happen!
One of the things I noticed that I can't remember seeing/noticing before, is that the sheet lightning flashes were different colours!
At the start of the storm the flashes would be pink or purple and then as it went on and maybe got closer (?) they turned the sky more blue than white. I thought it was SO cool!
I think it blew through pretty quickly (an hour or so?) and it did bring rain although the next day was SO SO SO muggy (until that mini storm came, then it reduced a tiny amount) that when I went for a walk with a friend for lunch, I came back soaked in sweat and had to shower. At one point the official temperature page thing was saying 100% humidity. GAH!
But yeah, we got a loud, bright storm this weekend and I really enjoyed it. As did my neighbours who were outside screaming with happiness at every big FLASH bang!
Nature can be cool, especially when it puts on a show (and does little to no harm.)
I will also say, it was neat to see on my social media, people all along this coast (starting in Oregon) talking about the big storm. Fun to kind of watch it pass through, you know?
