The internets.
I do not get all that swayed by things/gadgets I see on the internet but last month I made one exception to that!
A few weeks back when we had a long, hot stretch of weather, a random person (as in random to me, I don't know them) posted a photo of them wearing this strange looking blue face mask thing. They said that this was the ONE thing they'd found that actually helped them reduce heat in heat waves, beyond fans and swamp coolers and things, and that it helped cool via the vagus nerve or something. I did a little research on my own and then messaged them and said... I'm a little skeptical but really need some heat relief?
They assured me this worked better than other things they'd tried (they, by the way are just a normal person not an account or an "influencer" or anything like that) and so I found one online and it wasn't terribly expensive and so I ordered it.
The thing arrived, I threw it in the freezer and that evening I got it out and put it on my face!
Yes, I look silly but the thing actually does help cool me off, phew!
It doesn't last long, just a few minutes, but in those moments where I just kind of need a break it has helped.
I could probably use it more, to be honest, and the reviews of it suggest it can also be used for migraine headaches and puffiness and other things but I think I'm just glad it works rather than me throwing money at something that doesn't work at all!
So, yeah. "Face ice mask". Helps. For a short amount of time, but helps. Go figure.
