Oh, No No No No No No No

SOMEONE broke the spider rules.

And by "someone" I do not mean me!  I stick FIRMLY to the spider rules, but this dude/dudette did NOT.

This hasn't been the best sleep month for me so I'm often extra groggy in the morning and this worked very much against me the other day.

I was blurry eyed and still half asleep and was standing in my kitchen trying to make my tea when something on the counter moved.  This didn't seem right so I looked.  And?  Spider.

SPIDER ON MY KITCHEN COUNTER GETTING LITTLE SPIDER FEET OVER THINGS I USE TO EAT OH MY GOD NOT OK.

But I was slow and the spider was fast and by the time I clued in that I needed to deal with this situation and grabbed a glass the spider had run and hidden.  Under the lip of my counter, right above my cutlery drawer.  Yes, the place I PUT THE THINGS I USE TO EAT! Ahem.

I glanced down and saw the very clever hiding spot and really it was a most excellent hiding job, very compact and I thought about just leaving things but no... spiders need to go out into the hallway.  That's just the rules... you show up in certain parts of my home?  You go outside.  We all know this.  It's how it is.

So... I got some paper or something (remember, I'm not very awake here) and tried to flick the spider out of hiding but it sort of ended up IN my cutlery drawer and then ran under the container things that my cutlery sits in and I did try to lift one up but nope, little dude/dudette was even more well hidden.  WITH MY KNIVES AND FORKS AND SPOONS OH NO!

Sigh.

I didn't have the energy go take everything out of the drawer to try to capture what was very clearly an extra clever spider so... I closed the drawer and made my tea and got ready for work.

But... still thinking about those little spider feet crawling all over my utensils and I did realize I should stop thinking about it lest I feel the need to wash all my items.... but I did leave the drawer partially open for most of the rest of the morning and then closed it when I left for work... my logic being maybe I'd forget?  But, no... here I am several days later knowing I lost a spider in a drawer and not knowing where it might be now.

And yes, I know spiders and other things are likely all around us all the time but this one got RIGHT in my face so it's more on my mind than the hidey ones!

So yeah... spider broke the rules and got away with it.  Now I just hope they have their babies somewhere far away from my place! Gah!
