One Down, One To Go

I've been nervous about it (because some people have shared not so great stories) but I got my first shingles vaccine and (knock on wood) I'm ok.

I mean my arm hurts for sure, but whatever else I'm feeling I legit can't tell if it's from the shot or just a not great health day, you know?

Like is my stomach upset or should I just not have had four Starburst candies that I know can upset my stomach.

My arm is hot to the touch where the injection went in so that's from that.  And I realized my arm muscle was really hurting (I did go to water fitness class and have been doing my best to eat well and be hydrated) and I remembered that I hadn't taken any pain killers that day so I took an Advil and my arm didn't hurt quite so much (duh!)

The only thing that *might* have been from the shot that was a little weird no matter what was that my feet hurt.

Like as if I'd worn new shoes or old shoes and walked 10K or something.  My feet the night I got the vaccine HURT!  And as I was going to bed my hands also did?  But again, my body hurts sometimes and it wasn't awful, just kind of weird!

Some have said that the second shot "wiped them out" so when I go for that I'll make sure, like I did this time, that there's food for me to eat and that I don't have things planned just in case.  But I'm also trying not to talk myself into feeling poorly, I'm trying to be positive about it and I know some folks weren't bothered particularly by either so that's my plan and that's how I hope my body takes it!

I mean as I've said before, I don't love the experience of getting a shot, but I've so far been willing to go through with it so avoid the worse illness and shingles is definitely something I want to avoid or limit (because you can still get it with the vaccine) so I'll do what it takes.  And I figure that my body will bounce back and deal with a shot better now than in a decade or two (which is when one of the aqua fitness ladies got hers, at 70 something... but she said other than a sore arm she was fine, YAY!) so yeah, one down, one more to go and in case you're worried about it like I was, I've been fine enough, if less than fully 100%.

Oh and?  The nurse that gave me the shot said that some people report feeling like they're "getting sick" but then wake up the next morning feeling POOF just fine so here's hoping that's me.  (Even if I'm not entirely sure I do feel less great than I do on some ordinary days.)
