Huh! I didn't know ya'll had a Thanksgiving too! Cool! I'm wondering what yours is culturally based on though... 'cause I mean, ours is based on the settlers with the natives and all that fun stuff, sooooo... yeah. What's yours about? Or is it just someone's nice idea?

:D

here's a linky thing... um.. well I don't actually think I know how to link in the comments so.. here's a URL

http://proudcanadiankids.ca/Canadian%20Thanksgiving%20Truth.htm#How%20much

that basically says "The truth of the matter is that Thanksgiving in Canada can be traced back to Ontario in the mid 1880s. Protestant church leaders decided to 'borrow' the American tradition of Thanksgiving, but they wished to turn Thanksgiving into a nationalistic, religious event which excluded Catholics, the poor, and many minority groups. "

So.. kind of just someone's nice idea, I guess! : D

Actually, if you google "Canadian Thanksgiving" you get this...

Unlike the American tradition of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest.

The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an English explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been trying to find a northern passage to the Orient. He did not succeed but he did establish a settlement in Northern America. In the year 1578, he held a formal ceremony, in what is now called Newfoundland, to give thanks for surviving the long journey.

BTW... GO BLACKHAWKS!

well, there you go then!

Blackhawks eh? Hmmmmm..... ; )

Yeah, the Hawks look good so far. But I am also an Avalanche fan, so I have no love for the Canuks! Sorry!

Hey, no worries. I have a lot of respect for a lot of the teams out there (and, if not for the teams, then for the individual players) and I don't really get much of a kick out of big rivalries. I do, however, wholeheartedly support my hometeam. Especially since we have the hunkiest captain ever!

Now, maybe come playoffs I'll be a little more competitive, but right now I'm just happy that it's the hockey season again and my boys are playing!

:)

ps Expansion teams don't count as real teams! heh!

I have an in-law who's from the US so we get to be thankful twice as well!
Any excuse to get together and eat and laugh works for me :D
