I love me my MacBook, but I'm really starting to be concerned about the lap burnage that's happening.
As in, if I'm using it while it's plugged in and/or watching video and I've got it on my lap, my left leg gets so warm it's actually turning red.
So much so, that I've taken to wrapping an ice pack and having it under that side of the laptop.
I'm thinking that's maybe not, you know, normal?

Depending on how old your Macbook is, that is indeed normal.
I have the second generation Macbook Air, which is quite a bit cooler (statistically) than the regular Macbooks, and it still can get pretty freakin hot when I'm streaming video or doing a lot of processing (with Photoshop or drawing programs or whatever.)
My advice: don't set it on your lap. Crappy advice, I know, but there it is.
quazy! i juts bought a new netbook today (HP brand) and I figure that'll happen to me too. they sell lapdesk like things you can put under ur laptop too silly billy.
cheers and ur welcome for the excuse to go shopping! :)
But I like it on my lap, it's my standard lazy/relaxing pose! :/
I guess I could get a lapdesk Nelley, but the ice is pretty good on the warm days too ;)
Mine does the same thing - so I've given up to the lap-age thing it's safer for my legs
This might help: A lap desk with built in fans to cool your laptop. Hope this helps.

Yeah - laptops cook your legs, or other things too if you slouch too much lol
ToitB, the future is now! I dunno, it just seems so futuristically coolio.
I promise not to slouch too much Jonathan! ;)
Oh, and SandP, does that mean you use it like a desktop now?
Yes it does, it stays on my desk all the time. Which is a good thing for me - no more watching Fringe in bed or procrastinating from sleep with aimless blog browsing
Gotcha ;)
