Odd, But True

I never used to like peanut butter.

Not as a kid even. In fact, I really dis-liked it as a kid. Wouldn't eat it, no PBJ's for me, no peanut butter cookies either, yuck.

Don't know when (or why, more to the point) I tried peanut butter again, but it was really only in the last few years, and you know what? I like it now.

Not sure I love it and don't want to marry it or anything, but the stuff's not bad.

And, more to the point, is kind of awesomely filling. Like if I have a piece of toast with peanut butter on it in the morning, I'm not hungry til lunch! Awesome, right?

Kind of makes me wonder what else I might like now.

I had the same experience as a kid. My Dad would eat some Kraft stuff and I really wanted to gag when he'd put it on cold pancakes with bananas. *barf*

Now well into my 30's I was craving it not too long ago and discovered Adam's Peanut Butter.

There is nothing in it aside from peanuts, oil and salt. Unfortunately the jar will always go bad before I can or will want another fix.

Maybe its a west coast thing?

If by chance you find yourself faced with a toasted NY style bagel, butter it and once the butter is nice and melty, place a little grape jelly on top. Also works with cream cheese/grape jelly combo. May sound weird, but creamy and sweet go together nicely on a warm bagel.

Also ranch dressing on pizza. If you're daring enough, ranch + mclenny's tabasco sauch + pizza. So bad but so good.

olives! pickles! tomatoes and red onions
Unique combinations to try you say?
- Peanut butter and onions
- Peanut butter and mustard
- Strawberry jam and cream cheese

Enjoy!

I practically lived off peanut butter when I was a kid. But not the crap they get in America, which I imagine is pretty much what you get in Canada too. Most of the PB we get over here is crap too - it's rather carcinogenic because there's so much crud in it they don't bother to take out before mashing it.

But the PROPER stuff is gorgeous. Whole Earth's crunchy style is in a class of its own!

The natural peanut butter really is so good Samiantha! I keep mine in the fridge and that seems to help it keep.

ToitB, while I've never had a NY style bagel, I do so love the melty butter and can imagine the jam and holy smokes now I'm hungry. (But am going to pass on the cream cheese combo and ranch dressing. Shudder)

Nelley, I also agree with olives, pickles and tomatoes. Didn't used to like em! I'll pass on the others though! ;)

Don't know what all they get in America (or what we used to get in Canada)Dominic, but we've got a ton of natural/organic/real choices here nowadays too :)

Nooooooo, really? Cool!

Wait, that doesn't mean I'll ever stop liking chocolate does it?

I dunno. Maybe. I liked Mexican food when I was a kid, then I didn't like it as a teenager, now I like it again in my twenties. That's why I always try things again and again, just in case. :) (p.s. I wrote that anonymous thing; I was on a work computer.)
