My clock broke.
I have a couple of wall clocks in my place, one in my kitchen and one in my living room. I don't think I look at the one in my living room much but I probably do from time to time and as I'm typing this its clicking has gotten REALLY LOUD so yeah, ahem. I have two clocks.
The one in my kitchen I look at the most, yes, even though both my stove and microwave have digital clocks on them, the one in my kitchen I look at all the time, especially when I'm getting ready for something, like work.
Anyway. I've had this clock for a while and it's up on my wall with those velcro strip things. I mention this because a while ago (no idea when to be honest) it fell down and the casing and front "glass" broke and so it's been half broken for a while, but still worked.
From time to time the battery starts to go and I notice because it gets stuck or slow and I replace the battery and we move on.
Except this time, I replaced the battery and we didn't move on. Well, I mean I did, but the clock, apparently did not. I noticed some "off" times and changed batteries in case that one was somehow dead or old, but then I noticed the hands actually going backwards for a bit and I was like Oooooooh, it's not a battery thing, I think the motor/mechanism itself is actually dead. Or dying in such a way as to no longer be useful as a time keeper.
I took it down but the wall looked weird so now the clock is up and stopped at 12 and I'm having a hard time finding a replacement and my brain keeps having to not know what time it is and that's weird.
So yeah, I guess I have an elderly wall clock. I really should replace it. (I have thought about moving the one in the living room to the kitchen for now but it hangs off of a hook and I don't feel like sticking something in the kitchen wall if I don't have to!)

It's weird how we get attached to clocks. I have an old digital alarm clock... I haven't used it in over a decade. Yet there it sits on my bookshelf by my bed, unplugged with a broken 'button cover' and I still can't bring myself to toss it out.
Yeah, my bedside alarm clock I've had since high school. The snooze button doesn't work anymore (and I'm really very much a snooze person!) It's yellow and last time I tried to use the tape player (yup!) it ate the tape but I do NOT want to get rid of it!!! And if (knock on wood) it ever fully dies, I'm not sure I could.
