On Monday, I walked to a local hair supply store (the walking part isn't important, I just was proud of myself for the walk!) to pick up some more shampoo and conditioner.
There's a brand I use that I really like a lot. It's cruelty free and icky thing free (you know "bad" things, I forget right now what they're called... parabens maybe?) and gluten free (which is a huge issue for some folks believe it or not - they get contact dermatitis type things and lots of shampoo has gluten, go figure) and smells nice and most importantly, works well.
Last time I got my hair cut I mentioned to my stylist (who I've known forever and who first introduced me to the brand as it's what she uses) about the conditioner type not pumping out and asking if that was unusual. She said it wasn't too unusual and gave me some ideas but also mentioned I probably didn't need the moisturizing version that I've been using.
So I went to the hair supply store and a nice helpful person came over to help me out and I mentioned that I was probably going to get the daily type rather than the moisturizing type and he looked at my hair (it was up in a bun) and said, well, I don't think you have the hair that needs that, actually! And long story short I ended up with the one I'm used to using but the whole point of it is that it was really unusual and interesting to notice someone looking at my hair like that! I guess I'm used to it in the mirror when my hair's getting cut, but to have someone (who happened to be taller than me) like actively looking at the top of my head was just this odd thing that I guess I'm not used to happening! So good on the guy for looking and checking out my hair type without needing to touch it, it was pretty cool that he could tell my hair was thick and full just by looking!
People who have specialized skills that I don't are SO cool to me! You go hair dude! And thanks for the help!

I'm constantly amazed at the weird skills we (as humans) are able to develop.
Right?
