There are new cross walk lights being put up around town, or I should say they've been doing it for months (a year? more?) but these lights bum me out.
See, they have this automated voice that says (I'll remember it imperfectly) like "yellow lights are flashing, but cross with caution, cars may not stop."
The first one I noticed I was really disappointed but thought that because it was on an incline on one side that maybe cars wouldn't be able to see? But no, it seems that all of these new install lights, at least in the areas I walk, have this same warning. It bums me out because it feels like an out loud indication that things aren't how they used to be and we're less safe and less caring and cautious of each other. (Or maybe it's a legal thing, I don't know.)
So yeah, I'm having a hard time using street crossing lights that warn and remind me I still might get hit by a car. Sigh.
