Early this morning (earlier than I wanted to be awake on a non-work day) I was woken by the smell of smoke.
Long story short, it turns out there is a large building fire vaguely nearby that sent its smoke over the area.
I'm awake now and feeling a little proud that that ancient survival instinct is still working. Like, yes please brain/body, wake me up when there is fire! That is a legit danger, well done!
And yes, I did at the time nearly get up to make sure it wasn't *my* building on fire but I was alert enough to think that alarms would have gone off or something.... figured it was a beach fire, but couldn't figure out why it was so intense and why it hadn't already been put out. I REALLY wanted to go back to sleep so didn't do anything smart like close my windows or turn on my air filter but I did pull the sheets over my nose and turn the other way (spoiler, it didn't really help/work well enough.)
Tiny little rain drops are hitting my window... not enough to help, but maybe it'll rain soon to make a difference.
Just me. Thinking thoughts, living life, figuring it out as I go along.
And, no, I don't really know what I'm talking about.
