So.... uh.... apparently we've got some absolutely bonkers weather coming our way tonight and tomorrow and um... what?
They're like... it's SUPER cold and STUPID wind chill oh PLUS wind and I know like none of the streets are really drivable without winter tires and a 4x4 BUT... how about some more snow mixed with ice pellets (you what now?) and then we'll throw in some freezing rain (which I don't think I've ever seen before or maybe just once I don't know?) and hey how about some flooding!? Plus then it'll warm up probably on Saturday (maybe) with rain (possibly a lot) so like um... maybe... maybe be ready for a lot?
Ok, sure. Great!
I mean I'll be fine (unless power goes out, which maybe it might but probably won't...)
Yesterday Jason offered to come get me in his 4x4 with snow/ice tires and we got some groceries (including some I dropped off for my parents... and confession, I dropped them off what they needed to make my favourite sugary treat!) and were going to hang out and have dinner but the driving (even with him driving) stressed me out SO much I just needed to get home. I had no ideas the roads were still that bad - it seems like the road crews weren't able to get out and the busses haven't been running and they do a decent job of mushing down snow so yeah it's a bit... not great already and then this morning Jason went to get the turkey and said the store was bonkers, I assume with everyone trying to get shopping in before whatever tonight's going to bring (and before the weekend) and I'm trying to manage my anxiety around it by telling myself I have food and shelter and even if it's nasty on Christmas day we will all survive on our own and can see each other in the days after.
Christmas has stressed me pretty badly for a number of years (I've been wondering about writing a post to try to sort through my thoughts) and this weather which I might ordinarily love is stressing me even more which is bumming me out because snow is rare here and snow sticking around is rare here and it will in theory be gone by next week but yeah I'm far more weather anxious right now than I'd like to be.
But hey, happy official Winter (or Summer for my Southern Hem. friends!!!) and let's do this I guess!
Stay safe y'all (even youse out on the other side of the Country or different country or whatevers!)
