Well I woke up, looked out the window and gave a pretty big sigh of relief.
The winter storm they warned us about somehow missed where I am completely. Ok, not completely, we got a little snow and then a little freezing rain, but I don't know how other places are faring but I was expecting that coating of freezing rain I've seen before in photos and then for that to bring down our power lines which would then leave us without heat and ability to cook and days without power.
So, yeah, I was stressed. Very. And worried it would last through the weekend and make Christmas itself a disaster.
So not that today is perfect, but it's fine.
It's lightly raining at the moment and I'm not sure if it's freezing upon impact or what. Jason went out earlier and said it was water on top of ice so, you know, I'm happy to be safe and not needing to travel again.
Looking at things, I'll likely drive on Sunday and it will be messy on the side roads I figure. But I'm assuming lots will wash away in the next day or so. Probably?
I know the other side of the country (and some of our neighbouring states) is (are) getting hammered and I just hope everyone is ok and managing.
I'm much more relaxed today. The weather this week really really stressed me and my anxiety was high. Anticipating, I suppose, difficulty for myself and others. As of right now, everyone I might worry about is safe and not needing to go anywhere so let's just keep it that way and hope the melt and rain don't mess things up too too much.
There's still a lot of snow around, and most of the side streets and parking lots and such did not get plowed so it'll be... what it'll be I guess.
Worst case, Jason can come get me for Christmas dinner there - I just don't like not having my vehicle as it makes me feel trapped. Jason thinks this is weird because he says I could just take a taxi home if he's too tipsy to drive, but I don't want to take a taxi, I really really don't, so I won't so yeah. Anyway.. that's a future me problem.... or hopefully not a problem!
It's the holiday weekend so I may or may not be around so I'll wish you all the best of the Season - Happy things to you.
Take care, thanks for being you. Stay safe!
