Crossings

The thought that just popped into my head was that when Max and I were in the early stages of dating and getting to know each other and the topic of the long distance situation came up the proposed "solution" was that once his children were out of high school (I think that was in five years at that time?) he would move up here.  (From California.)

Of course there's no way of knowing if we would have made it that long in a long distance two country situation but it was a nice thing to hear at the time.  It'd be easy enough to speculate what might be going on these days had things worked and progressed but they didn't so... yeah.

Currently (or at least last I checked) one of my nieces is dating/seeing a fellow who lives in the states.  They met online (in a gaming thing I think?) and have met in person (and typing this out is making me realize I should have asked my brother about it last time we talked) and he was up this way in Summer, but things have changed in the last few months so I do wonder how they're managing that.  Long distance is hard at the best of times, and this isn't the best of times and, well, he's down in the States, you know?

But yeah, this is sometimes how my brain works.  Random thought to random thought to random thought.
