Achoo, Sniff, Cough, Repeat

Yo dudes and peeps and all.

I caught me a cold, or possibly just never fully got rid of the cold from earlier this month and then stressed myself back into it or something. But thank goodness for the weekend and not having to work for two whole glorious days because I think I've napped and slept a lot of it away.

I'm sure I had much more interesting things to say but at the moment I can't imagine what on earth they were or why they were interesting or how, exactly one forms a complete, coherent sentence so unfortunately, all you get is this rather whiny post.

Buuuuuut, there's only five more days til the weekend, right? Right!

How's you?

Honey & lemon. Even if it's just a placebo, it's a nice-tasting one :)

Get well soon!

Put some whiskey in with the honey and lemon....
I'm a recovering alcoholic so I can't.... And someone has to... It might as well be you...

I'm all up in that honey and lemon business Dominic! :)

I don't got me no whiskey Charles. Shall I just put in some extra sugar and let it sit for a few years to ferment?

Victoria,

I have some questions for you. It's only Tuesday and here in NYC, I'm having one of those single girl days. If it's alright with you, I'd love your thoughts and maybe your single girl advice?

Two people whom I deeply love, as they are family, decided after 5 years of marriage to call it quits. I don't get it. There are always two sides to every story and I have to accept that but both parties were able to move on and both with someone else ALREADY. I don't get it. I'm having my own dating difficulties. Lately, even when dating someone, it fizzles fast. I just don't understand how these two people whom I love dearly are able to find someone new so fast, when I, a like single girl has been single for what feels like forever...

Have you ever felt this?

Hi!!! So I have an off topic question...because I seem to recall that you talked about being tested for a gluten allergy and I remember there was some back and forth on whether you had it or not butttttt I am getting the blood test done soon and I was wondering if I'm supposed to make sure I've had gluten before doing the blood test or not. I seem to recall that you discussed this but I can't remember what the answer was. Oi! Anyway, I'd love to know what you think. Thank you!

Awww, Susie, first of all, hugs. It's so hard when loved ones go through something like this, so hard...Sometimes I think they forget how hard it is for the rest of us, like for those of us who loved them and loved them as a couple. We lose something too.

As for how they were able to move on so fast...well, I wish I could answer that one for you. Not knowing the situation, but have they been split for a while or was it recent? Because they say it takes half as long as the relationship was to get over it, so if it's been less than two years since they split, it's possible that their "moving on" is more of a rebound or not wanting to be alone or something like that.

Or maybe they really did genuinely move on. In which case, that must really suck for you. I'd imagine it's what it must be like for women who try and try and try to get pregnant and then have a friend who accidentally gets pregnant. Kind of like... what?

I totally get what you're feeling and the advice I'm always given is "it's just not your time yet." Like, the relationships that fizzled, fizzled because they weren't meant to be and there's something and someone even better out there even if it doesn't feel like it.

For most of us, dating sucks and it's frustrating and confusing and upsetting to see people in a loving relationship leave it and move on when we're still stuck in the "hello could I PLEASE have a relationship already" mode.

Hang in there and I guess try not to compare your situation to theirs. Or maybe make little voodoo dolls of them to glare at if that'd help? ;)

Oh, and? If you have a married friend who can tell you all the frustrating things about being married, that helps too. Like how her husband never cleans the toothpaste off the sink and snores all night long and smells really bad after eating burritos and stuff like that. Or talk to a girlfriend after a stupid fight with a boyfriend and go "hmmm, maybe I can be single for a little while longer."

(Or eat some ice cream, watch a sappy movie and have a good cry!)

But, *hugs*. Hang in there.

Hi Elle!!!!
Long story short, yes. IF they're looking to see if you have celiac or something similar, they want you eating gluten for the tests. That way if you're body's reacting, they can tell. My nutritionist actually had me on four servings a day which was kind of a lot, but was fun too!
So, good luck and let me know how it goes! (And remember, the blood test isn't 100% diagnostic. My blood work's elevated but my biopsy's clean. I'm a bit of an enigma!) ;)

Good luck!

Thanks Victoria! That's really helpful. I've been off gluten for a couple days now and oh my word do I feel better. Breakfast kind of sucks though because dude, everything has gluten! (although I do know there are non-gluten options, I just don't have them yet). I suppose I'll need to go back on gluten in a day or so since I'd like to go for the test early next week. I'll let you know how it goes!

So then are you gluten intolerant or do you have celiac's? I'm hoping for intolerant since it seems much easier to work with, lol. Not quite as strict.

Victoria said...

Elle, they don't *quite* know what I have as I don't fit perfectly into any of the definable cases. Ta da! So I'm going with intolerant until there's evidence otherwise. The truth of it is, Celiac is manageable and there are a TON of options out there and once you find where they're sold and stuff it gets easier. Lots of support out there too. So either way, you'll be fine! Good luck :D
