The Slow Chill

I found myself thinking the other night about the night time process that's going to be slowly happening over the next while as the temperatures change and move into Fall....

Here's how I figure it will likely go...

First, I'll start sleeping with the blanket/comforter pulled up.  Most nights I fall asleep with it half off to be cool enough and then some nights I end up pulling it up and others not.  So that, I think, will be the first change... needing/using the comforter full time.

I think once that's been happening for enough nights in a row, the next will be closing my bedroom door again.  Right now it stays open for more air flow, but I figure soon that won't be necessary.  So comforter, then door.

From there, I'm not entirely sure, and yes I'm aware that there will be pockets of warm days and hot nights, so this plan is not flawless - there will likely be weeks where comforter is off then on then somewhere in between.

I suppose after the door gets closed I'll consider changing my sheets.  In Spring (or so) I bought sheets that something something thread count so they were cooler to the touch and didn't trap heat.  I guess at some point I'll likely switch them out for my other sheets.

And who knows when but next will be another cover.  A thin blanket - probably the one that's covering my bedroom window right now (to keep the sun out).  And then the next, but I can't tell when that will be... October?  November?  Somewhere in there?  I guess we'll see.

Right now I'm still in the early phases of "it's cooler at night" but I have started to think a little bit about the changes that are inevitably coming.  Impermanence and change and all that jazz.

For me it'll be when I start turning off the fans at night (which I know you can't use).
